Released on March 22, 1981 as the title track of Australian hard rock band AC/ DC’s “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)”, it became famous among the fans for numerous reasons. Apart from incorporating cannon fire for the first time in any AC/ DC song, its lyrical content and title also made news as inspired from the ancient Roman Gladiator Salute! The song has been used numerous times in popular culture, including in Jerry Maguire and before live performances by the heavy metal band Slipknot! The single has also been used twice in later albums by the band itself.
