Eminem – Mosh (album: Encore)

One of the most controversial songs yet from American rapper Eminem, Mosh was a song released as a protest song in 2004, barely before the US presidential elections were to take place that year. Apart from achieving commercial success, the song and the video (which encouraged young voters to eject George W. Bush from office) became a huge hit among fans.

Nas f. Puff Daddy – Hate Me Now (album: I Am…)

Hate Me now is possibly one of the most notorious song from rap artist Nas, from his album I Am…, released in 1999. The song was a hit both in US and European charts, charting as high as #62 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, the song, especially, its music video, whipped up a storm of controversy due to its depiction of Nas and later Puff Daddy as being crucified (as Jesus).

Fort Minor – Remember The Name (album: The Rising Tied)

Remember the Name is the second track and the first single of hip-hop group Fort Minor’s debut album – The Rising Tied. Released in 2005, this 3 minutes and 49 seconds long track has become universally popular, especially, among sports teams and groups as a possible anthem. The song’s lyrics deals with the toil and hard work required to make it big in the entertainment (read music) industry.

D12 – Fight Music (album: Devil’s Night)

Popular hip-hop group D12 released their second single, “Fight Music” from their first album “Devil’s Night” in 2001. The song is famous for sampling the even more renowned Led Zeppelin track “Kashmir”. The lyrical content of the song deals with street violence and rival fights, except for the verses of Bizarre and Eminem. Produced by Dr. Dre the song charted at #11 on the UK Singles Chart in the same year.
