The opening track of “Let It Bleed”, the 1969 album by legendary rock and roll band The Rolling Stones, Gimme Shelter had equal contributions from both Mick Jagger as well as guitarist Keith Richards. Beginning with rhythm guitars by Richards, it is led into Jagger’s swaggering vocals. A mid-tempo rocker, the song was based upon the turbulent political and social times, caused by the ongoing Vietnam War. It was placed at #38 on the list of “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” by Rolling Stone, though never being released as a physical single and only played at live shows by the band!
